Toffee apples
Recipe ingredients
3 cups sugar
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp butter
½ cup water
½ tsp cream of tartar
A few drops Red food coloring
8 apples
8 wooden sticks
Cooking Steps
Put sugar, vinegar, butter and water into a saucepan and slowly heat while stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Now add cream of tartar and food coloring.
Bring to the boil but do not stir and let the mixture boil until "hard crack" (take a little out to cool and test) stage. While mixture is boiling, wash and prepare the apples by pushing a wooden stick into each stem end.
Move the pan away from the heat, tilt slightly then dip an apple into the toffee, turning to coat the whole apple. Place on a non-stick surface. And repeat…
