Toffee apples

Ok so you might break your teeth eating them but they sure are nice.

Recipe ingredients

3 cups sugar
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp butter
½ cup water
½ tsp cream of tartar
A few drops Red food coloring
8 apples
8 wooden sticks

Cooking Steps

  • Put sugar, vinegar, butter and water into a saucepan and slowly heat while stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Now add cream of tartar and food coloring.

  • Bring to the boil but do not stir and let the mixture boil until "hard crack" (take a little out to cool and test) stage. While mixture is boiling, wash and prepare the apples by pushing a wooden stick into each stem end.

  • Move the pan away from the heat, tilt slightly then dip an apple into the toffee, turning to coat the whole apple. Place on a non-stick surface. And repeat…
