What is the difference between frosting and icing?

Is there any difference between frosting and icing? I see on some recipes that it says frosting but the recipe looks like ordinary icing to me. Frosting sounds a lot nicer though so I wanted to make sure. thanks :)

American and British English

The only difference is that "frosting" is American English and "icing" is British English. just like ketchup and tomato sauce
