Mince tacos

Mexican tacos can be made with a variety of fillings, including beef, chicken, seafood, vegetables and cheese, allowing for great versatility and variety.

Recipe ingredients

80g Beef mince
1 clove Garlic
½ tsp chilli powder
¼ tsp ground Cumin
300g kidney Beans, rinsed and drained
2 tbsp Tomato paste
125ml Water
150g (1) Tomato, coarsely chopped
4 Taco shells
Small mound shredded Lettuce
Salsa cruda
½ lebanese cucumber, seeded and chopped finely
½ small red Onion, finely chopped
1 Tomato, finely chopped
1 tsp mild or hot chili sauce

Cooking Steps

  • Preheat oven to about 180 degrees C. Heat a large lightly oiled non-stick frying pan and cook garlic and mince, stirring until mince is cooked completely.

  • Now add chili, beans, paste, cumin, the water and tomato. Cook covered on low heat for about 15min. or until mixture thickens slightly.

  • Place taco shells, upside-down on an oven tray and heat uncovered for about 5min. Combine the ingredients for the salsa cruda in a small bowl.

  • Shortly before serving, fill taco shells with mince mixture, lettuce and salsa cruda.
